The Livestock Tracks Information and Documentation Centre is located in Malpartida de Cáceres, a municipality included within the geographical area of the PDO Torta del Casar. Historically, it has been an important enclave in transhumant routes, due to the presence of the Lavadero de Lanas Los Barruecos, which attracted numerous flocks of merino sheep during the 18th and 19th centuries.

The purpose of the centre is to promote the National Network of Livestock Tracks, shepherds’ culture and extensive livestock farming. It is also a supplement to the tourist resources of Malpartida de Cáceres, attracting tourists, educational centres and the public.

On the ground floor, there is the documentation area, where you can consult a documentary collection with historical archives on the livestock trails of Extremadura and the library specialised in cattle trails, the history of the plateau and transhumance.

The upper floor has an exhibition area, as an Interpretation Centre, where visitors delves into the uses and paths of ravines, trails and paths, in a journey of inner reflection towards the values of a unique roads’ network.
